Valentine’s day is just around the corner and many people are still racking their brains for the perfect gift for their spouse. Whether or not you’ve been married for two years or twenty, giving your spouse a thoughtful token of your love on Valentine’s day is always a nice gesture.
At Esperanza Ranch, we love to help couples make their wedding day unique and unforgettable. But romance doesn’t end after you say “I do.” Therefore, here are our ideas for unforgettable gifts to make this Valentine’s day the best day.
Photo Album
We all have thousands of photos on our phones, but how often do we get the chance to look at just the best of those photos and enjoy them? Sometimes an old-fashioned photo album can do the trick in terms of keeping your favorite photos close.
Get creative about how you organize the photos. Perhaps you want to organize them based on the different trips you’ve taken together, or the different restaurants you’ve been to together. Services like Shutterfly, CVS, and Walgreens make it easier than ever to make a photo album.
Romantic Picnic
If you’re fortunate enough to live somewhere where the weather is nice for Valentine’s day, consider an outdoor date. Bring a picnic blanket, champagne, and some fancy cheese. If the weather is not great where you live, you can still drive your car to a scenic spot and eat together.
Scavenger Hunt
If you enjoy planning, a romantic scavenger hunt can be a great way to celebrate Valentine’s day together. You can make the clues in different places that are meaningful to you. End your hunt at a nice restaurant or back at home where you have set up a romantic dinner.
Matching Presents
If you’re comfortable with the cheesy “twin” factor of owning matching things, it can be fun to buy yourself and your spouse matching shirts from your favorite band…or matching mugs from your favorite restaurant.
Revisiting The First Date
If you can still get to the area you started dating, it can be fun to recreate your first date for romantic memories. Even if you don’t still live in the same spot, it can be fun to do things that are similar to your first date.
Snuggly Pajamas
Everyone thinks of buying their partner something sexy for Valentine’s day but in marriage, friendship is just as important. You know that warmth and snuggles are just as important in a happy and healthy relationship. Lean into this with a warm cuddly gift like cozy pajamas, slippers, or a warm blanket.
Hometown Memories
Many of us live far away from some of our friends and family. Nice gifts can bring those far away places and people near. For example, consider ordering your partner something from one of their favorite stores in their hometown so that they can bring a piece of their own story into your home.
If you know one of your spouse’s friends from home, you can also get them to send you something. Just remember, you don’t want to pawn off your Valentine’s day gift onto someone else.
Adventure Plans
Valentine’s day can be a great time to reveal a plan that you have made for an adventure that the two of you could have together. Go beyond giving them just the idea as a gift, if you have bought them tickets to Alaska, present them with a small stuffed polar bear with the tickets attached. This is something that some spouses will like and some will find stressful, so make sure you feel certain of how your partner will respond.
Tickets
If your partner is not someone who likes to travel, you can always surprise them with tickets to something closer to home. For example, you could get tickets to a museum, fancy restaurant, or concert. It is always nice to present the tickets in a special way, whether in a card or hiding them somewhere unique for your partner to find.
Mystery Date
Sometimes, the most romantic thing is the mystery of the whole adventure. Tell your spouse: this year, you don’t have to plan anything, and then whisk them away on a surprise adventure. This could be as simple as a restaurant or as complex as a trip to the beach together.
Whatever romantic gesture or gift you decide to give your spouse on Valentine’s day, be sure it says “I love you, and I am so glad that we’re married” in your own special voice. At Esperanza ranch, we love watching couples tie the knot and set out on life together. We want to help you keep that fire of romance burning for the rest of your life!
